David Tighe, Piano Tutor

David's musical journey began at a tender age, showing exceptional promise that led to his acceptance into the D.I.T. Conservatoire of Music to study under the renowned Margaret O’Sullivan Farrell. His evolving passion for jazz took him to the Newpark School of Music, where he further honed his craft under the guidance of the celebrated jazz pianist, Greg Felton.
Embarking on a journey into the world of Jazz promises an exciting exploration of rhythm, melody, and improvisation. As a student of David, one delves into the art of expressing emotions through music, mastering the language of swing and syncopation. But David ensures that his teachings are not limited to jazz alone. With a focus on creativity and individuality, he invites students to discover the joy of spontaneous musical conversations within a supportive community. His approach to music education makes the joy of Jazz and other musical styles an enriching experience for all, irrespective of their musical background.
Since graduating, David has become a dynamic force in Ireland's musical landscape, dedicating his time to teaching, producing, and performing. His talents have adorned esteemed venues such as the luxurious Shelbourne Hotel and the renowned FIRE restaurant, among other iconic locations. His contributions to the Irish music scene were recognized in 2023 when he was honored with an Agility Award from the Arts Council.
David's holistic teaching approach builds upon a strong foundation in both classical and jazz traditions. He not only guides his students in mastering the precision of classical piano but also introduces them to the rich tapestry of jazz improvisation. By fostering a unique musical rapport with each student, David is dedicated to uncovering their inherent musical voice, refining their technique, and sparking a love for a wide range of musical genres.
The Piano Academy of Ireland proudly welcomes David Tighe to its faculty. With his innovative perspective, he is set to inspire a new generation of musicians, bridging the gap between classical and jazz realms. We eagerly await the rich harmonies and diverse melodies that David's presence will bring.
