Music Theory Classes in Dublin

Dublin Music Theory Class

Dig deeper into the language of music with our Dublin music theory class, offered at the Piano Academy of Ireland. Designed for both newcomers and advancing musicians, these sessions empower students with essential knowledge—grade prep, composition basics, and real-world application.

Why Enroll in Music Theory?

  • Build a strong foundation. Learn notation, scales, chords, rhythm and harmony — skills that elevate your sight-reading, composition and improvisation.
  • Supportive class format. Join small groups for shared learning, or opt for tailored one-to-one sessions. Either route ensures clear guidance and steady progress.

Who It’s For

Whether you’re studying solo piano, preparing for ABRSM or RIAM exams, teaching yourself composition, or simply want to play more confidently — this theory class provides a rock-solid platform.

How It Works

  1. Group or private. Choose weekly group theory sessions or arrange one-to-one lessons.
  2. Exam alignment. Our classes align with the ABRSM and RIAM music theory syllabi, so you’ll be ready with practical confidence.
  3. Practical application. Theory isn’t just abstract; learn through composition, ear training and applying concepts directly to the keyboard.

Music Theory

This year, almost all children participated in Musicianship classes, and we are thrilled to see the positive effects of combined Piano-Musicianship training. While it may take some time to develop advanced skills, many parents have noticed an increase in their child’s “musical intelligence” and confidence. The Musicianship faculty is extremely satisfied with the results they are achieving with the students. It is important to continue attending Musicianship classes while learning the piano in order to build up skills over time. We hope to see all of you back next September!

Musicianship work is lots of FUN!
Classes are interactive and can provide a lovely social contrast to the more concentrated and solitary piano lessons!
